I've seen him, but never talked to him in person or been introduced to him. He met ladyharriet at a ball in Florida when she was fourteen (!). Then last February, she and I (and baby Louisa) went to the History Conference in Moscow.

We both recognized him from the Florida ball. Guys his size stand out in a crowd (especially to us, because ladyharriet is 6' tall herself).

They danced twice and talked a little after the ball. We saw him here and there during the remainder of the conference weekend, but had no idea he had any interest in ladyharriet.

He called Mr. Tom last summer about his desire to get to know her. My, were we shocked!

We have emailed and talked lots since then. I have grown extremely fond of him. I can't wait to give him a big hug and get to know him in person!

See sirjake's "memories" posts to hear him tell about how he became interested in her. I think it's quite romantic!

I agree - it's romantic!

I found Jake's LJ through a friend, and went back to read his posts about her when he announced that they were courting. I don't even know him, yet I feel like I do, and I'm so excited for both of them. Hope y'all have a wonderful time this week! :-)

If you replace "revolving flu" with "revolving respiratory conditions, accompanied with high fevers" then you would have completely described the state here right now.
