Update

When last I felt like posting, the car had just died. I'll cut this and you can read details if you feel like it. Nothing important in here.

After being screwed by Tony's Auto Repair in St. Rose, I'm out about 400 bucks with him now saying it will cost another 1000 to fix. I talked to two mechanics who both adamantly agreed that the guy knew before he even said he'd fix the belt, that the valves would definitely be bent. So no, that asshole is not going to fix my car. I think he thought because he had it apart I wouldn't say no. Surprise. Decided due to the high miles and lack of back seat, which is really a problem for my larger than me niece, it was time to find something else. I'm very seriously thinking of quitting my job any minute now, so a new car payment wasn't such a good idea. Decided to rent a car for a week or two and think about it when I got back from vacation. I'm letting the other car sit and will fix it when the time is right.
Vacation was nice. As with everything else in life, it had its ups and downs. The best part was the ride to the cabin in the Smoky's. I could just imagine my brother having a cow in his truck behind me as we made out way up the side of this little mountain. I had both of the kids with me and they were cutting up...so I snarled CHILL OUT and help me find the fork in the road! As I hit a patch of gravel up a steep incline and the car quivered back and forth, the 6 year old piped up...is this the fork and the spoon?! I stopped to let my brother catch up and as the kid looked out the window waaaay down below to an incredible scenic view, he said 'I can see the whole world!'
There was actually an easier way, it just took a little longer. Cabin was worth every penny. $120 a night for two bedrooms and a sofa sleeper. Everything plush and you'd never guess it was a rental. Towels, charcoal and lighter for the grill, wood for the fireplace, tableware and dishes, soap for the washer and dryer, and everything there. The heart shaped jacuzzi in one bedroom was awesome...nice mirrors surrounding of course. Coffee in the hot tub on the porch before the kids got up was awesome and relaxing watching squirrels playing. View was plush wooded mountains and nice rockers on the porches. The kids liked the pool table. The beds were more comfy than my own at home. We did a few tourist things. The aquarium was ok, the Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede was a giant rip off. Huge knive and sword place, bought a few things there. Let the kids do the race cars. The niece did well, but I still try to block the thought her driving soon out of my head.

Back home...some moron from hell has caused so many problems on his unit that no one would speak to him. He is beyond lazy. Then he backed the head nurse, female, into a med room yelling at her. She told him she didn't want to here it but he wouldn't back off. Big hubbub. I've taken more shit than I've ever taken in my life...but if that jackass tries something that stupid with me, it's going to make the news. WHY WON'T THEY FIRE ASSHOLES??!!! He takes hours to do an admit which anyone else could complete in less than an hour. The other regular jackass nurse on that unit shoved a six year old into a seclusion room, turned out the light terrifying the kid, and put a chair against the door. Let the kid scream in terror. Nope...he's still there. Said he turned out the light to calm her down is what I heard...yeah, right. The regular night nurse sleeps most of the night on my unit. Does what he has to do, and at least is otherwise intelligent. What do they do now that the assistant DON has quit and no one is there to prevent chaos? Not to mention they fired the DON the next week and the new acting one has no clue? THey switch them and move the sleeper to that unit and shove dumb and dumber up MY ASS. I'm not amused. Apparently she has it in her mind that I'm going to train these morons from hell. One is about 60 and refuses to learn, has a serious chip on his shoulder and this religious thing about women being subservient to men....boy has he got the wrong damn one. Do you know those type that get out of school and never learn another thing? Fight any and all changes and learning? Just sit and vegetate the rest of their lives? His first question from the 60 year old was what is Flagyl. For those who are nurses, you know even the most lame of even new grads would be able to answer that, let alone a nurse with 40 years experience. After 3 weeks on the unit he asked if the patients bathrooms are locked at night. He has never gotten off his ass and checked patients or rooms. SO who was relieving the tech when they were taking a break? He worked as second nurse with me on night and trust me, no one got watched in any way, shape, or form. I want no part of this disaster. First comment from the other asshole was I DIDN'T WANT TO COME HERE! Well, hell, I feel the same way. I got a migraine for two days...then went on vacation. BIG SMILE-no one to train and they were on their own. I came back to a mess, but it wasn't my mess. The two of them got into a loud screaming match and one yelled it was unprofessional to be yelling, the other slamed the door and yelled shove it up your ass. You want ME to work with these morons? Nope...it's not working out. I asked one what prn he gave...and he starts yelling-well I thought I was helping!' Had nothing to do with the question. I explained I need to be able to report in the morning how many prn's detoxing pts had. Clueless continued yelling. I walked out. Now, they may have been tolerating that sort of thing on the kids unit, but I'm not the one. If I start yelling you're not going to have to read it here...you'll probably hear it. I give loud a whole new meaning. The list of incidents goes on a mile. The supervisor made another nurse go help him...and he ended up doing the jerks admit. The entire time he was complaining he couldn't handle it and didn't have enough TIME to do it all...duh. If you have enough time to be off the unit complaining for 40 minutes, you have enough time to do your work. THen the kicked came when he said he was told he'd be oriented for a month! BY WHO? The real insanity is since he is technically full time and I'm part time...they're in charge...oh yeah. Smart. So you're in charge, gave yourself nothing to do, and you think I'm going to teach you? I had a little talk with the supervisor and let her know in no uncertain terms what I thought of this entire mess she made, and that I've had enough and if it didn't change immediately I'm leaving...no maybe to it. Still...and DAMN...it's just one of those honor and professionalism things. I grit my teeth and refused to engage. Later I had to work with dumber. He wants to sit and just do the chart checks...leaving me with the admit on it's way, all of the prns which are often heavy on a detox unit and 4 patients that had been trexaned that day...two were unstable. When I calmed said...I'm supposed to be taking care of ALL FOUR TREXANS? He started...I SWEAR...screaming! He screamed I can't be out there and in here! I said 'Duh...I do it every night.' I made it clear I would not tolerate his yelling and when the unit was stable I had a chat with the supervisor stating I was going to corporate if the violence in my workplace continued even one more time. How is stupid going to learn if he doesn't DO?! I ask the supervisor. She said I don't know what I'm going to do. I said You'd better do something. Later I found out that since they put the motion detectors on the kids unit they have it in writing they only have to make rounds 4-5 times a night. Shit. Someone is going to get hurt, that won't work on a unit were people have medical problems and are sick.
He made a big deal out of morning meds saying there a huge number of morning meds! ahem...stupid took each and ever one of the about 12 meds to each patient ONE AT A DAMN TIME to their rooms. What usually takes me about 20 minutes took him well over an hour. I've never seen such a stupid person with a total lack of any common sense what so ever. I let the supervisor know in no uncertain terms before I left that the next time one of them yelled ONE of us was leaving and I refuse to work in such an unprofessional situation. Her response was what would it take to make you full time? She mentioned moving one to days, I think the real reason is she doesn't have the balls to fire him and wants someone else to be responsible. He definitely couldn't survive on day shift. So I told her, I'm not going to be responsible for people who refuse to learn. I took 3 days off to find a car. I go back tonight.
I went to a car auction in Atlanta and bid on 3 cars. Didn't have the hang of it and didn't end up with anything, but at least I learned A LOT. My brother ended up with a little car cheap. He buys all the time, his friend has a dealers license. Went to the city auction in New Orleans...what a joke. People have to be really stupid to pay those prices. Finally found a car that I decided would do for the present. Checked it out and got a vehicle report etc. Not perfect but it will do. Ok...so the actual reason I probably bought it was the leather interior. GRIN. It also has some technie stuff on it....4 wheel some kinda breaks, some traction extra thing, power everything, cruise, 4 doors so the kid can get in, premium sound, v6 which impressed the sitter more than me, and I think every option you could have gotten. It's a mercury mystique with 73 thousand miles, which is way less than half I had on the other car, fair condition, so it should get me to work for a while. Life goes on. Now, if I could just quit moving my foot over to the non existing clutch.

The kid is at Lions Club camp. I have to drive up there Friday to attend her little show. I'd rather be at the Master's retreat, but I'd have to drive five hours after the show to get there and another 7 hrs to get home Sunday and have to work Sunday night. Couldn't talk anyone into covering, no one wants to work with those assholes. One actually said to me she would if they weren't working! Damn. Who knows, I may have quit by then.
