something a little different: Victorian homoerotica

Here's something a trifle different - some original Victorian-style homoerotic fiction. I have decided, after much pondering, that my conventional short stories are worth the investment in time, although pornography is more marketable (short stories have declined in popularity since the 1950s.) I may yet continue the adventures of these two 19th- ( Read more... )

I say! These two fellows are quite the thing! Full of the sap of youth, what? What a pleasure to see two sodomites at home and comfortable. Thanks for giving us the opportunity.

Thanks! I may yet continue their adventures - Jack will make an excellent pornographer, and Cedric's photographic illustrations will lend a bit of sass to their shared publishing venture. I hope to free Jack from a dull career as a clerk yet spare him the indignation of living off Cedric's money. If I ever self-publish pornography, it cannot be about Holmes and Watson because they are copyrighted, so I came up with these two, who are reminiscent of Holmes and Watson, although I set them in New York since I've never been to London. Thanks for reading and commenting! I'm dragging a few other stories out of the archives while the office is closed for the holiday break.

But..but..Holmes and Watson are not copyrighted, are they? They are over 100 yrs old, and isn't that the limit of copyright? Otherwise, there wouldn't be The Seven-Percent Solution and Young Sherlock and all those other derivitives. If you contact K_Haldane, I think she might tell you that she is writing a piece of H/W pr0n for publication right now.

They are trademarked characters, if no longer copyrighted, but they still need to be licensed. Anyway that's not to say you cannot publish Holmes porn, only that I dare not do so, at least, not for profit. There is a lot of (non-pornographic) Holmes pastiche in print and I doubt it's all licensed. I've also seen Holmes porn in printed fanzines but those are so small, they probably slip under the radar.

BTW if you're interested, here is a five-page description of the long, complicated history of the Conan Doyle Literary Estate, which describes all the in-fighting among his very few heirs: http://www.sherlockholmesonline.org/TheEstate/index.htm

Thanks! The erotic fan fiction's a little easier for me - developing original characters compelling enough for anyone to be interested in their sex lives is challenging, but I figure it's good to try now and again. I get so busy with school and other stuff, updates can be a tad slow but I do have a few fics simmering on the back burner.
