Happiness Part Four: BABIES

Jun 15, 2010 15:06

D. returned from Okinawa, and my spirit is unmistakably lifted. I remember years ago an early teenage platonic girlfriend sort of broke up with me in a note. We had been inseparable as high school freshmen, drawing comics and making scrap books for each other. She said in the note something to the effect that she didn't want to depend so much on ( Read more... )

If having a kid is what you are drawn to, then go for it. I don't think MANY women look forward towards giving birth. They seem to enjoy ASPECTS of being pregnant, but giving birth is generally kinda scary, kinda messy and definitely painful.

I did work with this woman who had EIGHT kids. Why? Because she "loved to be pregnant." She worked for $8/hr. in a kitchen supply store alongside me. She was nice enough, but I thought she was being a bit delusional in her ability to provide for her kids.

I'm glad you and D. are reunited though! I might be down here in the south for a few more months then previously thought, and I can't wait to return home and see my lovely redhead.

:)

Do what makes you happy!

Eight kids on $8/hour is pretty insane. WTH? Did she have a babydaddy to pitch in? Yeah, it does seem that some women are addicted to being pregnant, which seems odd to me. Not sure I'm really looking forward to all the comes along with being pregnant, but I think it messes with your hormones, and in a good way for some, it sounds like.

She got food stamps and medicare for her kids, and had a partner, though she was not married if I remember right. She was super nice, but yah...I was like "girl, you are CRAZY..."

Hi Meg,

Must have been destined to have you write such a fun, touching and as usual, laugh out loud rendition of babies and parenting as I sit out on the deck catching up with the melifluous one on Father's day.

I read your "babies" to Gail so we both could find pleasure in our nieces unique and ever clever world view.

Much love, Favorite uncle Paul

Thanks Uncle Paul! Glad you got a chuckle out of it. Now that I'm in my 30s I feel less need to censor my language (even though Mom, Dad, and other family occasionally pop in), so glad I didn't offend. Hope you're having a good summer on the lake. Sounds like weather's been pretty decent so far! :D
