Comments: YAY!! I FINALLY got this up!! ^^ The prologue is short because it's a nice little summary of everything we did to set them up and start the rp. This is an rp-based fic, which was edited and made into story form, so please go nice on the content and let us know if it doesn't flow. One last thing: this is a collab between me and my friend Diedie, whose name I will include in authorship as soon as I get her LJ. Thank you guys, and enjoy! Next part up soon ^^

It all started in a café frequented by a great number of Japanese musicians. It was a trade secret, a little place on the outskirts of Tokyo loving dubbed Taka’s. Taka, the owner of the café, made all his sweets and desserts by hand, and took great care to memorise everyone who came into his shop, even if they weren’t regulars. The regulars, upon entering, would often find their orders already made or in the process, to keep their warmth and freshness. Just seeing them coming would set Taka to work, and this mixed with his great geniality and the homey feel of the place made it the favourite secret retreat for many, who came back often.

It was where Ruki had found himself, early on a weekday morning, enjoying a cup of coffee before taking the train back into town and to his practise building. He was reading a guitar magazine, bored but content, and expecting anything but what happened. Since it was a trade secret, it wasn’t often fans came in to bother the big-names who frequented the café. However, as the young man took a seat across from Ruki, that was exactly what Ruki thought; oh no, not a fan…not today…

“Ruki-san?” the high, obviously gay voice said. He hadn’t bothered to change it that day. Ruki sighed softly, and turned to smile genially at the small young man. How could anyone be that skinny! he thought to himself as he laid eyes upon him. Nothing more, nothing less. “Do you know who I am?” Ruki blinked a little, and shook his head, giving him a skeptical look. The man leaned forward, as if telling him a secret.

“Riku desu,” he whispered, lowering his voice to its stage pitch. It wasn’t a name Ruki recognized, and when he continued to stare Riku sighed and rolled his eyes. Reaching for his phone, he pulled up a picture and flashed it to the vocalist. “You know Kisaki? Phantasmagoria? I’m Riku. Their vocalist.” Ruki blinked at the picture this time, before nodding a little. Of course he knew who Kisaki was…but…hmn, Riku just must not have made an impression on him, if they’d ever met.

“Nice to meet you,” Ruki had said, courteously, taking another drink and watching his time on his cell phone closely. Riku beamed.

“I’m a huge fan of yours!” the smaller man practically squeaked, making Ruki nearly cringe. “Would you mind if I…?” He gestured with his phone, and after a moment of confusion Ruki nodded. It was Riku’s habit to take pictures at every chance he got, and as he sidled over with a huge grin, making a peace sign at the camera, Ruki frowned. He checked his phone a moment later, and was glad to see it was time for him to go.

“Aa…I hate to cut this so short, but I have to go to practise…” Riku nodded, understanding, though he looked fairly disappointed. Ruki rose with a smile and bowed to him, and received one in return. What happened next, Ruki would never be able to explain. As he stepped to the door, he turned around suddenly, and offered the man his email address. What a moment, that was so spontaneous.

Only two days later, Ruki received an IM from an unknown address. Upon asking who it was, he was responded with “Ah…I was afraid this was going to happen; it’s Riku, from the café”. The name and place triggered a not-so-fond memory, but he being a fellow vocalist and artist Ruki showed him the courtesy of talking to him. This encounter led to another, and another, until the two were talking nearly every day. Ruki would stay often behind to use the computer in the practise room (as he didn’t have one of his own), previously to play around but now just to speak to the man. They developed inside jokes, such as “sheep-ing” (meaning walking) to a store, or taking a “sheep”, which Riku did every night to help him get ready for bed. They made jokes, suggesting randomly one day that they should cosplay one another, and confuse fans, while starting a band together on the instruments they used to play; Ruki on guitar and Riku on drums. They called the band Riuki - a meshing of their names - and Ruki played with pictures to make them look like they were in the same band.

After a few weeks of this, the two men felt as if they were growing fairly close. One thing led to another, and Ruki was on his way to Riku’s house. What followed would lead to a near-fatal relationship, which would turn into a fairytale - good or bad, that was what was left to be decided…
