If you think you know Uncle Ruckus...

THINK AGAIN!!!

In last night's episode of The Boondocks, we learn a little bit of Uncle Ruckus's past and family and such and such. And yes, I'll return with the Uncle Ruckus story. Apologies for not logging on to do Granddad getting a new girl or the fried chicken episode or any of the others that aired since I last left off.

The Color Ruckus

Uncle Ruckus was born (according to him...and later on his mother) on the 4th of July (U.S. Independence Day). Birthed by a white couple. The doctor tells the father that the baby has a dark patch on his skin and it'll take over the whole body soon enough and before you know it, he will be blacker than any other black person. The father couldn't imagine having a son like that so he grabbed his newborn son and left the baby on the steps of a home of a black family. The home of Mister and Bunny. After a discussion on their porch, they tripped over the baby. Bunny picks it up, notices money attached to the infant and decided to take him in. Mister wasn't too thrilled by that. Bunny names him after an uncle. And thus the name, Uncle Ruckus. Yes, including the uncle part too.

As a child Ruckus was rather unhappy. He had a father who quite frankly treated him and the rest of the family like shit. But a mother who was sweet and loved the white man (now you see where Ruckus gets it). Ruckus had two other brothers Daryll and Darrel. Mister was tough on all but toughest on Ruckus and crushed any dream of his. Ruckus would pray every night that when he wakes up again, it would be with his real white family, but no such luck.

One of Mister's reasons for being such an ass is because of Mister's mother. A mean bitter old lady who treated everyone like shit but worse of all, Mister. Not long after Mister's mother comes, Mister throws Uncle Ruckus out of the house (when he was still rather young). That scene explains the big lips, fucked up teeth, and popped up eyeball. After being thrown out, he never saw his family again...until now.

In the present, Ruckus returns and sees his shack has been broken into...and surprise, it's his Grandma. She's looking for a place to die or drive Ruckus fucking nuts. Can't decide which at the moment. Well either way, Ruckus ditched her to stay with Granddad and the boys. His grandma soon enough found where he was. She took a liking to Granddad's house and decided to die in his special chair. Then the whole family come. Ruckus is reunited with the clan. Mister's first words to him in 50+ years is, "Is the bitch dead yet?" While the grandma was in the chair, the family decide to have dinner together. Turns out Ruckus's brothers are both making it in the white man's world and Ruckus can't be any happier. Mister on the other hand had a few choice words for Ruckus. Due to Ruckus living in his shack, working all of these jobs and not getting anywhere, he pretty much calls him a Mexican. After degrading him a few levels, Ruckus yells at him and says he was never loved because he's adopted.

Mister then tells him that he isn't adopted. His mother LIED to him all these years. Even about Revitaligo. Bunny denies it and says all of it is true. Well whether way Ruckus took it, Mister is the reason why when he introduces himself as Uncle Ruckus, he always says no relation. Well the next morning, they find the grandmother dead in Granddad's chair. Granddad wasn't too happy about that. Ruckus decides to have his grandmother buried in Woodcrest due to the fact he gets 70% off because he's a gravedigger part time over there. Ruckus's brothers help him with the task of digging the grave and all the while, talking about Mister. The boys revealed that Mister had a horrible life because of the white man. Ruckus was in complete disbelief when he heard that any white person would do something so horrible. But made peace in his own way with it.

The day of the funeral, Mister is drinking at the funeral. No compassion for the dead. Well in the grandmother's letter, she pretty much says the worst thing in her life was birthing out Mister. And would always hope he would reach the grave before her. Mister compliments Ruckus on the grave he dug for the grandmother...err sorta. Then belittles him some more. Ruckus snaps and tells him to shut the fuck up. Mister gets pissed and tries to go after him. Then his back goes out and then falls into the grave they're about to plant the grandmother in. And he's dead.

With Mister dead, Ruckus can see his two brothers and mother again, Bunny is free to live with her white lover, and Ruckus...is still a self hating ass, but his family...he's fine with them.

WOW!!! One of the best Boondocks episodes ever. I mean, it was like watching the Color Purple all over again. Don DC Curry! I remember watching him in Next Friday and Friday After Next and he plays Mister. Great job! Star Jones (former The View host) plays Bunny. This whole episode was a rollercoaster of emotions. Despite what you may think about Uncle Ruckus from before knowing all this shit, you can still have a little bit of sympathy for him.

On a side note, Granddad wanted to 'release the hounds' on Ruckus's family. Oh I hope none of the executive producers/lawyers/etc of The Simpsons were watching. He was pulling Mr. Burns lines.

Well next week, Adult Swim announced this as the SEASON finale. But as I recall in preliminary teasers, this is the final season of The Boondocks. So this is confusing us. Is there going to be more two years from now? Or is next week's episode the final episode we will ever cherish of this wonderful series? I will try my best to keep you posted. Once again, this has been Missy with your Boondocks review.
