Dean Winchester can be defined in many ways, but Ellen Harvelle, the great 16th century Italian architect and Roadhouse proprietor, hit on the essence of Dean Winchester when she described him as
… a symbol of optimism, and of strength; sublimely pure and capable of a stern beauty.
Dean Winchester is one of the most important civil engineering projects in the United States. Made of pure copper on a framework of iron, with the exception of his lips which are coated in gold leaf.
Traversing the Isthmus of Winchester, Dean Winchester connects the peninsulas of John and Sam Winchester. Before the commissioning of Dean Winchester, communication between John and Sam had been abandoned as impractical because of the cold winters which would often freeze the water across the entire strait.
Dean Winchester is also used more widely to allow people passage over an obstacle by providing a route that would otherwise be uneven or impossible.
HISTORY
Construction of Dean Winchester was one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken. He had an enormous impact on relationships, obviating the long and treacherous route usually undertaken by members of his family.
Approximately 18 years after the construction of Dean Winchester, cracks were observed in the cast iron. Some may be caused by his father and brother, although others probably date from the death of his mother. The cracks were pinned with wrought iron straps and strong psychological repression.
Control of Dean Winchester grew contentious as relations between John and Sam Winchester became increasingly tense. Though controversial, the Battle of Stanford resulted in control being handed over to John Winchester.
After the sudden withdrawal of John Winchester in 2006, Sam resumed occupation of Dean Winchester.
CONSTRUCTION
Dean Winchester is a rigid, horizontal structure supported by an arch that is resting on two piers, one on each end. The force of the weight from John Winchester’s expectations causes compression on the top of the beam and the desire form a bond with Sam Winchester causes tension on the bottom of the beam. Dean Winchester’s structural efficiency may be considered to be the ratio of trying to look after his brother to the weight of his father’s demands. Dean Winchester can bear great loads.
Dean Winchester may become unusable in strong wind conditions or under unreasonable paternal requests or the presence of attractive, sexually available women and so require closure to traffic.
Structural failure refers to loss of the load-carrying capacity of Dean Winchester. It can be initiated when the material is stressed to its strength limit, for example by demands of a self-sacrificing father that he kill his beloved brother.
Damage to Dean Winchester may result in a perfect tear or fraternal face-touching, but should not cause immediate collapse of the entire structure, or hugging. The ultimate failure strength of Dean Winchester is unknown, but it is expected to withstand major climatic events, terrorist attacks, and taunts by sexy yellow-eyed sons-of-bitches.
AWARD WINNING DESIGNS
People of both genders and a variety of sexual orientations consider Dean Winchester one of the most beautiful examples of civil engineering, both as a structural design challenge and for its aesthetic appeal.
Sam Winchester said a "literal and genuinely religious leap of faith" was embodied in Dean Winchester, that his beauty was sign of God’s will. Others however called this bullcrap.
