Costume party! Dude, awesome. Who's going? I've got my costume already.
Raven, you'll save me a dance? Or two or three. Assuming there is dancing. And Aara, Claudia, Bryn, Chloe, Rapunzel, I'm totally expecting dancing from you, too. Actually, pretty much just might ask everyone I know to dance, just tossing that out as a warning.
[He is so

1. He's not sure what Halloween is, aside from the night nearly one year ago that the Elegante started to go to hell. This makes him worried.
2. Bobby is safe from the expedition into the forest and seems to be as peppy as ever. This makes him happy.
3. Bobby has actually put up the petition for a movie night. That makes Xanth grin with silly pleasure. He sees all these responses, but he doesn't want to take the time to dig through them. Lazy get!]
So-- s-so did-- did they say y-yes?

I'm not sure. I think we might be out of luck from the staff. But the point was brought up that some people have laptops, and might have movies on them! So I can ask around that way, too.

[Liiittle disappointed, but hey, Bobby tried. That's the nicest thing.]
...wh-- what's a-- a laptop?
Reply
A laptop? Oh! It's-
[And then he has to pause, because he'd been getting ready to say that it was like a mini-computer, but if Xanth doesn't know what a laptop is, he might not know what a computer is, either.]
Um. Well, it's got a keyboard and a screen and a memory and a bunch of programming. Basically it's something you can watch movies on, or play a video game on, or also write stuff up.

O-Oh, okay. We, uh, w-we didn't-- we didn't have those w-where I grew up, e--either.
[But they sound cool...]
Do-- d-do you know if a--anybody has one?
Reply
Not surprising, if you didn't have movies. I think a lot of people's worlds don't have them. And I know I've seen someone talking about having one! I'm not sure who, though. I'll have to ask around.
Trade ice cream for someone willing to let us borrow it, maybe.

[He's had two conversations with two separate people about them ,and by god, he wants a damn smoothie.]

[...yeah, actually, he kind of wants one, now.]

[CAN YOU MAKE SMOOTHIES FROM YOUR HANDS?
(Xanth doesn't really get Bobby's powers yet.)]
Reply
We should be able to! Probably just have to cut everything up really small, or mash it a bit. I'll have to test it out, see if it works better if I make really finely crushed ice and mix it up, or if we just mix up everything and then I can try to freeze it to the right consistency.
But yeah, man, we can totally do this.

[Bobby you don't know the extent of his smoothie addiction. It's a problem okay well it's not that bad. Just, they are so very tasty.
And they kind of remind him of people he knew.]
I--I think th-that'd work? I-I mean I, I-I can't see why it-- i-it wouldn't. W-We should... e-experiment.
I-I mean, there's n-no fire, so, I-I don't think we'll have too much t--trouble.
[Isn't that right, Arch-Duke Char, Burner of Cake?]
Reply
Definitely! We'll get it working, one way or another.
[And then he's laughing, bright and cheerful.]
Hey, it's not fire that's my downfall! It's ovens. Evil, evil ovens. And things that go in baked goods. I'm pretty sure baking soda has it out for me. Or maybe baking powder, I can never remember the difference.

Xanth laughs, too, and it feels so nice. He's gone much too long without laughing.]
J-Just-- don't mix up s-salt and-- and sugar. Th-that'd be... even worse. Cause-- c-cause then i-it'd look okay, but, w-when you bite in, it's... t-terrible.
Reply
Right, I definitely wouldn't want to do that. I'll remember that, for the future. Because it's not like I've done it.
[Except he totally has.]
Okay, in my defense, I was really little, and my mom just labelled the canisters with a big S for sugar and a little s for salt. I couldn't tell the difference.
Reply
He can't help another amused snort.]
I-I guess you were just-- b-born to be a--a menace to c-cake society, h--huh?
