The Candyman Will

Apart from the sticky humidity of it all, the 48-Hr. screening was a blast. A dozen or so movies in our group, all of which had to incorporate the line of dialogue "Oh, for cryin' out loud," a picture frame, and a lab tech named Brian (or Briana) Merryweather. We drew the genre "Musical." Two days later, we'd made this:

I don't know why you're displeased with your performance. I thought it was cranktastic, and you have a tough act to follow; Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka was one of my earliest crushes (crystallizing, no pun intended, my penchant for the unruly-haired, slightly macabre eccentric). The cane-chomping was especially delish.

Ah it's fine, but I was sweaty and exhausted and irritable the whole time we were filming, so I coulda done better. But I'm rarely pleased with my performances anywhere else, either.

I feel like someone wrote this article just for you:

Good list, but some glaring omissions there. For one thing, the entire cast of Grease is menopausal except for Olivia Newton-John--Sonny literally looks old enough to be everybody's square dad. It seems like all the wayward teen strumpets and juvenile delinquents have to convey their badassness through crow's feet and jowls (90210's Luke Perry looked like a fucking Shar-pei)m not to mention every interchangeable snooty jackass foil in the equally interchangeable iconic John Hughes flicks. Especially James Spader in Pretty in Pink and Craig Scheffer in Some Kind of Wonderful.

Dude, you were totally the CSI:Miami guy at the end. Well played, sir.

That's what we were going for. In retrospect, it woulda been funnier if I'd done the Roger Daltrey "Won't Get Fooled Again" shriek myself, after the stupid quip. I wish I had.

That's what the 48-hr filmfest is all about.

Excellent. Also, you look like a white Richard Wright.
