We attract them. And recognize them. With the Internet, we allow them to communicate freely and often. It makes for annoying times.

I have been trying to find balance in the SCA, which, in general, means backing away gently. I have learned some things that made me sad and the whole thing less fun, but then, I knew I would eventually. No place is ever really the way we hope it will be.

The normal stuff, really -- that people I thought were decent people would convince themselves on their moral and righteous cause and do anything that they could to "punish" someone else, and even when someone higher up the hierarchy said that all was well and let it go, they continue to do whatever they can to prove they were righteous and correct.

I know I come off as a fairy dust and rainbows kind of person, but I see people very clearly, and I know that people are not at all perfect, but I saw a lot of ugly -- a lot of political garbage -- and it soured me for a bit. But I love fencing, and I'm very invested, so I'll keep my attention on that.

It pains me that those above, who have sway over the fate of others, all to often have a separate set of rules and morals they get to operate under, while demanding everyone else conform to a standard they themselves can not or will not meet.

I am sorry that you have seen the lesser side of people who should know better.
