Love the comment about the chicken. Welcome back to the land of the internet, my breakfasts weren't quite the same...
Thanks for what you said about hate, although in your next paragraph I feel perhaps you have fallen prey to the very judgment we were discussing. How can you say who is right for K? You have known her what, six months? I have known her for six years. You have never met me, nor have you seen us together. Many people who knew us were shocked at our break up, the two of us included! Many people used the term "soul mates" when talking about our relationship. She and I had the kind of love that some people wait their entire lives for. We made some bad decisions along the way and it is true that we may never find our way back to one another. However, I do not feel that you are in any position to proclaim who is "right" for her or for myself. This is casting judgment when you do not have all the information.
I look forward to reading about the rest of your trip.

OK, I'm going to be brutal here. Sorry. I can't think of a more tactful way to say this.
I can't say who is right for K, but I do have enough information and I do know her well enough to know that you are wrong for her. I know how much pain the relationship had caused her. I think you do too. If you love her, you surely can't wish her to suffer more pain like that.
I feel really bad being blunt in text in public like this. If you want to continue in private, my email is conway@juggling.org, I'm misterajc on AIM and yahoo messenger, or my phone is 415 337 8693. If you want me to drop the subject, I'll do that, too.
OK, about the water tank. It’s a thousand liters, so we have to refill it ever couple of days. The waste water goes straight into the canal. So does the black water when we flush the head. Oh, shit! Literally. Canal water does not move very fast. The boats on British canals have holding tanks. This canal is not very rancid, it’s quite a bit less crowded than a British canal, but I don’t plan on any swimming.
It's pretty hard for me to understand why these people have put together a system which throws the waste water directly in the canal without, at least, filtering it through an intex filter b to retain the macromolecular waste; on a crowded canal the smell must be unbearable.
