I'm usually a big fan of the self-service tills at supermarkets. Anything to avoid actual contact with another human being, and I'm all for it. But there's something about the ones at Sainsbury's that really annoy me

I'm amazed they still have these machines. The number of thefts must be quite high.
I remember once accidentally getting a bag of nuts for nothing, after one bag failed to scan. However, I also left my change in the tray.
The ones in Asda are odd because you get coin change from a high tray, and notes from a low one. The rest of the functions are not in the order you'd actually use them.
My peeve with them is they try and promote you using your own bags to save on carriers, but when you do so then you have to have an assistant come over and look inside first. So it wastes time and is an invasion of privacy. Maybe one day I'll walk in with something in the bag to make them blush.
I usually stick the shopping into the bagging area without actually bagging it. That way it registers as being there so the machine doesn't keep on berating me. After I've paid for it I then just annoy the person behind by spending ages then bagging it all up.
(By the way, I don't know who you are, but I do know where you are...)
