How do hindus view non-hindus when it comes to caste relations? Are they on the same level as Dalits, or are they treated as though they were of the caste that matches their job, or are they excluded from caste considerations altogether?

non-hindus do not apply to the caste system, although in nepal the family i stayed with asked me what my grandfather did and they assigned me one loosely :)

Yeah, what the rest of them said. Technically, I think Dalits are considered outside the caste system as well. If a white non-Hindu lived in India, they would be outside, but if an Indian whose family had been Hindu converted to something like Christianity or Buddhism, they would still have a hard time being perceived as casteless because of family background. Religion does not neccessarily bring freedom from caste discrimination.
