I think people would think a lot more about animal welfare issues (which might in due course lead to discussion of animal rights) if the animal products they ate featured informative labelling of how the "product" came to the market. It goes without saying that this would cause environmental issues also to be propelled into the every-day world of ( Read more... )

It's something like this:
green = organic
blue = minimal use of chemicals
red = grown the "normal" way

All their price tags are written in one of the three colours.

they should have labels like those new smoking ones with the gnarly teeth or lungs full of tar. But have a featherless chicken in a small cage instead, or a gross looking cow.

Jamie Oliver killed a sheep on TV last night, good on im. Not good on im for killing an animal but for showing people, hey! This is where meat comes from!

The sheep was naturally raised on a farm in Italy somewhere. If meat wasn't so removed from living animals I think people would have greater respect for it and not shove so much down their throats.

I think smokers will look into those 'gnarly teeth' pictures and think "Hey neat B&H comes with a mirror now. How convienient, I'll buy more."

Respect for anything in this consumerist society is hard to find.
