jolie piece. je vous donne 16 / 20.
mais faites attention au style ("frequent quite frequently") et aux lourdeurs ("i felt detached, observant, melancholy, but still amused with the world around me, and mysterious" pour "like a french lover after his escapade")!

"frequent quite frequently" was a bit of a joke, but i guess it wasn't that funny.

i'm not sure about "a french lover after his escapade." more like. a man just released from prison after a long sentence.

hehe, in my experience professors rarely notice such jokes. usually they will notice unintended ones.

ah, so, perhaps, a "french lover just before his escapade, awaiting the object of his lust/desire"?

have you read the man without qualities (der mann ohne eigenschaften)? in an unrelated way, have you read the gormenghast trilogy?

no, and no. if you probe further, you will quickly realize that i am the worst-read english phd student in the country.

fortunately, my wit and charisma have fooled everyone.

i would say, "i'll check it out," because my first instinct is to trust your recommendations.

but i'd be lying.

i barely manage to read what i have to. for the most part, reading for pleasure lost its charm for me long ago.

i like you. i like your cinematic mode. i like reading it because it's like reading how my brain sees if you wrote it down. like "the middle stories" by shelia heti.

happy 25 years and 7 months birthday to us! :D

thanks, birthday-twin.

i must confess that i'm not familiar with "the middle stories."

so many texts, so little time.

Hell yes it kicks ass!
I saw them perform in SF and they kicked even more ass (and much more vigorously, I might add). My favorite track is #8. I listen, I float!
