I would have expected most everyone know that when something like living dinosaurs arrive in the City, even ostensibly penned and caged, things will not end well. Even when the City goes dark for a day and we're given a celebration, we all greet it warily. I remember when the carnival and amusements appeared in Xanadu: everyone was expecting it

Some people really were pretty reckless there!

And I've noticed some parts of this City's architecture do have something... bleak to them. Some just look like grey boxes. Sometimes I miss the curved roofs of home.

I'd just like to see something other than the City, grey boxes or not.

Well - what about the gardens, at least? Spring should make the first blossoms bloom, soon.

Yes, there are the gardens, and the seashore. That provides some relief, I suppose.

I understand your frustration. Aren't there magicians in this place? Maybe they could make it look different, every once in a while!

I wonder if they'd have power enough to do that. The 'deities', I know, have changed things more than a few times.

Ah, yes - there's that.

... they have? During those curses that change the entire environment, I suppose.

Have you not seen a curse like that? Yes, the entire City changes for a day or two. There hasn't been a curse like that in some time, but they're quite dramatic when they do happen.

I suppose the lantern festival from a few weeks ago is as close as we've come of late.

Not yet, I don't think so - except for that lantern festival, yes.

It's quite impressive that they can keep the sun down for a day. This is what makes them a tad frightening, those deities.
