OOC: Dream #2

He was running.

There were trees on either side of the path, and there was snow underfoot that crunched with each step. He was running somewhere, but why? Someone was in danger, but who? He inhaled cold air that stung his lungs with each pant. There was a sharp pain in his side, but still, he ran.

There was a bright light ahead, and when he reached it, it was a bridge that was burning against the cold night sky. A man was waiting there, in a horrible pink sweater and with an orange beret over his spiky brown hair, but when he spoke, he said not a word. His lips moved, but nothing came out. He paused, reaching out to him. It would be fine.

There was something there then, on the other side of the bridge. A girl, someone he knew, all long black hair and dark eyes that laughed at him when she smiled. He took one step, cautiously, before running again.

If only he could reach the other side, then she would be safe.

Halfway there now, the floor cracked under him, and he stumbled, but he ran on. Now three quarters of the way, the rope bridge crackled around him, embers burning bright against the cold night sky. His lungs stung from the smoke and the heat made the air waver around him, almost unbearable against the clothes he was wearing. He was almost there, and he reached out to her. Their fingers met, just for an instance.

There was a loud crack, and he was falling. He fell for ages before the fall was broken by a river. He hit the water and plunged under the icy waves, fighting for the surface. He gasped for air when he reached it, the river tossing him about, helplessly.

There was a glimpse of something burning bright before the waves dragged him under again.
