I am not entirely sure if it's "cool" or "hip" admitting that I am a huge fan of the old TV series, I Love Lucy, but--cool or hip or not--I really am, and I know I'm not alone.

Such a fan am I that, even though I've probably seen EVERY episode of I Love Lucy at least 4 or 5 times in my life (and according to Wikipedia there are nearly 200 ( Read more... )

"Looocie.. you got some splainen to doooo"
Had to say it.

Do you remember the episode with Harpo Marx where Lucy thought she was looking into a mirror? Great stuff. :)

I do remember that episode! I believe that was when the foursome were out in Hollywood (at the end of the 4th season).

Now this may surprise you, so you may want to make sure you're sitting down, but every time I think of their trip to Hollywood, I can't help immediately thinking of that dreamboat, Rock Hudson...oh yeah, and Aunt Sally's pecan pralines!

I blame that for my being diabetic (not Rock Hudson--sweeeeeeeeeeeet as he was--but those dang non-existent pralines)!

:-)

Y'know, I grew up with ILL too -- and that whole grown-woman-as-retarded-child routine was why I couldn't stand the show, even when I was 4 years old. I just didn't know anybody who was that dumb. When i got older I could appreciate the slapstick, but it didn't make up for the neanderthal roles. And Lucille Ball's second series, where she was a widow always begging for money from her banker, was even more irritating. I suspect this is one of those shows that's funnier for men than women.

My guaranteed-laugh oldies are the Marx brothers movies, even with the sappy boy-meets-girl sub-plots thrown in.
