Well, its a case of so-far, so-good.
Its 8pm and 2/3 kids are asleep with the 3rd abed and headed that way. The biggest issue to date is juggling sufficient attention for a 1yr-old, a 3yr-old and a 6yr-old, for which levels of interaction and activity are widely divergent levels. Ben and Ellie were also quite tired, but that meant they went down nice and smoothly.
In terms of The Plot, after dinner, Agent Glasgow was set a task to decode three messages. Each was a location in the house containing a package. Agent Glasgow handled the ROT-13 translation very capably - when not distracted by the other two/tv - but was reluctant to actually ask Eleanor where in the house the location actually was (my attempt at co-operation).
The packages contained sections of photos that had been cut up. Having retrieved all three packages, Duncan and Eleanor were able to assemble the photos jigsaw-style (sadly with less co-operation than ideal). The pictures were Daniel Craig, Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. I explained that they were all spies who used the codename James Bond.
After putting Ben to bed, I fired up the laptop and we went to the SHIELD site and entered James Bond as the password. Duncan was excited to learn that we would be going to the Space Centre, and told me at length that he knew where it was because he had seen signs. Upon learning that HYDRA may use it to launch missiles, Duncan proceeded to tell me how plausible this was.
After Eleanor was put to bed, Agent Glasgow was shown the mission specialist equipment - including the "laser scrambler" (which is a red laser dot pen we use to torment Sam and Ellie). He's very much looking forward to using that on any suspect HYDRA technology tomorrow.
My sanity levels remain robust and I am reasonably optimistic for the morrow. Overall, I remain sure that this is a good idea as it seems to have given Duncan a sense of structure/purpose for the weekend, which should stave off boredom and disinterest. Meanwhile, Eleanor just keeps telling me she is Batman...
