The best way to figure out if a spot has good sunlight without actually WATCHING it all day is to stand in the spot where you think you'll be putting your plants, figuring out where (almost) Due East & West are, then draw an imaginary arc overhead from one to the other. Yes, wave your arm in the air. Directly overhead is noon. Assuming a 12-hour day, (which we usually get in summertime), every 22.5 degrees is about 1.5 hours. As you wave your arm through the air, pay attention to where your finger points at clear sky & where it points at trees/buildings/etc. Clear sky is where you'll get direct sunlight. If you get more than 90 degrees of clear sky, you should have a GREAT spot for a garden.... Any less than 2 hours of sun means you're out of luck in that spot.
