Take heart, dear Jim, there are still places out there like that. They're few and far between and they don't get much love from the masses, but the locals who know about them give them the respect they deserve. When I was working in Bucksnort, there was nothing around except Three Springs, the porn shop, and the Bucksnort Comet gas station. The Bucksnort Comet didn't have cheap gas and many of the items on their shelves were covered in a layer of dust. However, they had a meat counter with all sorts of real meats and cheeses and made the hugest, juiciest, best sandwiches ever. We used to get lunch there a lot and I always had a lot of trouble getting through a whole sandwich. That was a couple of years ago now, and a lot can happen in that amount of time, but there are still people who care about what they're making.

Sam & Andy's equaled great food.

My dad occasionally had a Pabst, and I had a drink of it for the first time when I was around 10 years old. It's probably why I don't like beer all that much.
