We are going to be in New York from Sunday April 4th through Monday the 12th. Jess has been before, but Levi and I never have. We are super fucking excited

I lived in New York for a bunch of years! You should definitely visit the Strand, if you want to be completely overwhelmed by used books, and Bluestockings, if you want to be completely overwhelmed by cool books. Also my friend Mary owns one of the only woman-owned comic books/graphic novel shops in the country- it's called Rocketship, in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. You can guess what you'll be overwhelmed with there.
All my things are book things.
If you're feeling a little spendy, there's a raw vegan restaurant called Caravan of Dreams where I've only ever had phenomenal food. There's also, okay. There's this completely overwhelming Indian restaurant at 93 first avenue, but here is the thing: there are three Indian restaurants right there, two upstairs and one downstairs, and all three of them have a guy at their door telling you to come inside. You want the one on the TOP LEFT. I think it's called Milon? It is the tiniest, most cramped, stuffed-to-the-gills-with-red-pepper-lights little place EVER, and the food is... y'know, plenty

krista, i think you mean especially the indian food place bc it will be a big hit with your wife. i have been to some place sort of like that, but i have no idea (of course) if it was the same one. but there was delicious food and everything you described. i think about it at least 1x a weekl.
FALAFEL. If you need specifics on the falafel let me know. But please, don't miss a falafel sandwich. Also knishes... specifically Yonah Schimmel Knishes on the lower east side (they are the BESTEST I know of and a great place to visit- pick up a pot holder for me?). Best vegan food in the universe: Red Bamboo (vegan soul food by Washington Square). They have vegan buffalo wings.
The museum of natural history is great! Expensive, but really really great.
Also worth a mention: Kate's Joint (restaurant), Blue Stockings Book Store, Central Park, Botanical Gardens, and CONEY ISLAND!!
Yay! You know, I have never had a knish. This is the type of NY food tour I need. And vegan buffalo wings! I need these.
We are thinking about the museum of natural history. On our short definite list is MOMA. We are going to make it there before their Tim Burton exhibit is gone.
also, i'm the "real estate mod" for park slope parents, so i'm seeing sublet offers all the time, if you want me to keep my eyes open. and of course you could squeeze into my apartment for a night, i feel like the conditions of the "blue room", as the second "bedroom" is called, are not ideal but we did squeeze three people in there before (two on futon, one on air mattress on the floor)... though one of them was a 4yo. still! it can be done!
Yay! I hope we can hang out for more than just a quick meal. We might take you up on a night at your place just so we can have more time with you guys. How does your schedule work? Are your days off always the same days of the week? Or do you know your schedule during say the 4th - 11th in advance?
I know one of the days we are going we are going to see the Prospect Park Zoo... Jess has a friend who works there. Maybe y'all want to go with?
That happens to me sometimes when I am on my phone, but the chats usually go through. And I'm not on my phone. And your chat really didn't go through. Hmmmm.
