I'm considering joining a military branch, and i was wondering if you could shed some light on the procedure to apply etc. I'd want to go wherever they need linguists, I'm taking arabic right now, but I'm only auditing it, so it's off the papers. If I joined, it probably wouldn't be for some months. I'm going back to Case in the fall, but after that, who knows? I'm trying to study abroad, but it looks like my grades and/or financial issues might be inhibitory. If they are, I probably won't stay. What did you have to do to apply, and what kind of opportunities are there?
I would just say go to a recruiting station. I went to the Preston station at the Jefferson Mall. My recruiter was SFC Miller. He helped me get my job and I thought he was pretty honest for the most part. If you do go in, I would recommend playing hardball to get what you want. Don't be afraid to walk away, because something will always open up. Go get some information first though.
