Power has just been restored here. A transformer exploded on Monday and we've been fucked ever since. Rumors spread around the apartment complex that we would be without power until Friday. I had considered moving, so I'm relieved I don't have to. It has been very warm and quiet here

I've been trying to call for the last few days to see how things were with your mom and the family you had in NO -- it's good to hear they're all well.

sorry, we've been difficult to reach. mom is doing fine, but the family in NO are having a shitty time. many are staying in fairhope, but the fact that they're homeless and can't return to NO makes it difficult for them to even remotely move forward. i don't know if they're gonna relocate or what.

how do you feel about the newest new pornographers album? i think it's really, really good.

The new New Pornographers album is fantastic, I think.
I've listened to 'Jackie Dressed in Cobras' 15 times, at least, since Monday.

It's much better than the new Death Cab album -- which is good, just not great. It's a comfortable album....nothing too different. Typical Death Cab.

The surprise of the summer for me has been Smog's 'A River Ain't Too Much To Love'. This album is all kinds of wonderful.

i don't know much about Smog. i really like a song by them on the Hi-Fidelity soundtrack, but that's the extent of my education on them.

"Jackie Dressed in Cobras" is my favorite song on that album too. I hope they're touring on this record.

speaking of tours, the 5,6,7,8s are playing in Atlanta. me and tina are definitely not missing that one.

A bunch of people that I know were in car accidents the weekend before last. She wasn't the girlfriend of David's friend that has brain damage, was she?

Sorry to hear about your family's homes and your aunt's dogs. I've been obsessing over what I'd do with my animals if I had to evacuate in a hurry. I've lately been tempted to tie all of my animals to my body and never leave them alone again.
