Steve Jobs is another Mind Gangster, singlehandedly imagining and directing the creation of markets where none existed before, making people realize they needed things they wouldn't even have thought possible six months earlier.

See, I'm talking about music and joy and presence, and you're talking about "creation of markets" and getting people to buy plastic shit. That's not Mind Gangsterism. That's being a successful huckster. There's a difference.

You know, I'm half expecting that six or so months after the last piece, he'll comment something along the lines of "Fuck, are you all still here?"

I once, while in a writing frenzy, put "I Learned to Yodel" and "I Hear a New World" on repeat for about three hours.

It was a pleasant and vaguely-legal trip.

The writing that came out of it was...interesting.

Telstar is fucking brilliant stuff.

Joe Meek himself set so many standards for the audio industry...there's a whole brand of "joemeek" compressors, EQs, preamps, etc that are based on his designs (although the low-price stuff is pretty stripped-down and probably not as cool).
