So let the debates begin. Apparently Guinness and NME have released the results of a poll that samples (mostly) British music fans to find out what they think are the best albums of all time. The sample size was fairly decent at over 40,000 people.

The full Top 20 is as follows:

1. 'Definitely Maybe' - Oasis
2. 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ( Read more... )

OK, well, I think Oasis coming in ahead of the Beatles is just blasphemy! But you knew I would say that. I think you need to friend a few more people to get more responses. *nod*

um, WTF???? Oasis above the Beatles? Floyd? Zeppelin? the Stones (who I personally don't even LIKE!), Queen and U2???????????????????????????????????????

Blasphemy. I agree with the Missus.

I mean, if it weren't for the band I listed above, Oasis wouldn't have anyone to steal their style/look/sound from...

ooh? did I say that outloud...*giggles*

Thanks for the list - really interesting stuff! The punk bands deserve to be in there - what a movement! :D

The truth has been spoken, but I do have to say that despite protestations, "(What's the Story) Morning Glory" is still a DAMN fine album. Better on the whole than the sum of its parts.

So yeah, they owe the Beatles evereything, but they learned well at the feet of the masters.

Um...did we have Oasis fans vote multiple times?

Even more embarassing - I have no clue who Oasis is.

I was in 7th or 8th grade when "A Night At The Opera" came out.

"Dark Side Of The Moon" is Jeff's fave album.

Oh. I just said album. G-d, I'm old.

Album? What's that? :-P
Just Kidding... Luckily some things never change. Albums are still referred to as albums even if they're on some weird metallic disc.
As for Oasis, their early albums are worth checking out, but honestly, you might recognize their voices from those "New AT&T" commercials. They are the ones singing "All Around the World" BUT that one's not on either of those albums that made the top 10.
