I don't have many deep friendships and my attempts to show my love and affections don't seem to be clear or strong enough. I guess I'm just not meant for people.None of this is true. I don't know why Alex seems to feel this way, and I'm not going to pretend I can either figure out why, or that I have the place to. But from what I can see and from what I know of you-that is not the case

Putting your obligations before your wants doesn't make you selfish, or ill-designed, or mean you have your priorities mixed up. It means you're a responsible, intelligent person. Anyone who feels short-changed by you because of it has some unrealistic expectations, and you shouldn't feel like it's your fault that you can't live up to them.

*hugs* I'm sorry, Kim. It must hurt like hell, but don't feel as though you're the one responsible, or the one making the ultimatums, okay? Even if there were anything wrong with your behavior, the economy's in such a state that buckling down to your work is a really smart decision, and I can't say I agree with Alex for not making allowances for that.

You love and are loved. Not always coming first, or not being able to put the people and things you want to first, doesn't change that at all.
