Act 3: In Which the Prodigal Daughter Returns

As some of you noticed, I deleted my journal last week. And then I undeleted it, because let's face it, life gets pretty dreary without LJ, doesn't it?

What happened, for those of you who care, is that I felt more than usually torn between my two main passions, writing and photography. As some of you know, I've been working on a novel for quite some time. However, over the last two years I've hardly made any progress on it, as I've been too busy scanning and editing photos and hanging out here. Last week I reached the point where I felt I would never get any serious writing done if I didn't drastically cut down on my distractions -- i.e., give up photography and LJ, all in one fell swoop. So I deleted my LJ. It was a hard decision, but it felt right at the time, particularly as it was followed by a few productive nights on which I found myself churning out words with great ease. But then my inner photographer started complaining, begging for a chance to show what she has been up to lately. And then my mother began protesting, insisting that I couldn't just stop editing my Australia photos as she's desperate to see what I've been raving about for the past half year. And then my own sense of guilt got in on the act, too, as I really owe conan76 some photos of Paris, Barcelona and Rome. I frequently kept him waiting to take pictures during our trip, so at the very least I ought to show him what I kept him waiting for, right? Particularly since he somehow managed to lose all of his Paris and Barcelona photos...

And of course I missed you and found my life somewhat empty without obsessively checking my friends list. Don't we all?

So I'm back. For the time being. I have no doubt I'll disappear again once in a while to focus on my writing, but I have no doubt either that I'll be back on LJ at some point, because damn it, I love photography as much as I do writing, and I like sharing my photos with you and being inspired by your posts in return.

So on that note... a picture. Just the one, because I've been busy writing lately. :-)
