At the End of Yet Another Year...

Dec 31, 2007 16:42

Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I last posted here. There were times when I thought I'd never get round to posting again, but as you can see, I'm returning to the fold at the cusp of the new year. I hope you've all been well since we last met, and I obviously wish you all the best for the new year ( Read more... )

Lovely photo. Unfortunately, my 2007 was crap, but I really appreciate your message here.

Thank you! I'm very sorry to hear 2007 wasn't your year. I hope things will be better in 2008. Keep focusing on the light and who knows what beauty you may come across...

Happy new year to you too! Nice to see you're still around.

How's the hair?

Hi! I should be around a bit more often in 2008. You see, one of the things which have kept me from posting was the fact that I wasn't at all happy with my monitor. Now that I've solved that problem (without actually having to buy a new monitor or computer -- yay!), I'll definitely be more inclined to scan and edit photos. I won't be as prolific as I used to be (my new job doesn't leave me enough time for that), but I should manage a couple of posts a week.

As for my hair, well, er, I've just decided to go back to using shampoo. While there's no denying that my seven months without shampoo have done my hair good (it's definitely healthier now than it used to be), I think it will be better for my general well-being if I drop the no-poo regimen. My hair has been reasonably presentable lately, but it hardly ever looks great, so I've decided to take up shampoo again. Organic shampoo, and heavily diluted organic shampoo at that, but still, shampoo. Yeah.

Have a great 2008!

Thanks for the update! It's something (the no-poo business) I'm tempted by but still don't think I'm brave enough to go through the first few weeks of hell before getting it into balance.

It will be great if you post more in 2008. I'll look forward to it.

Think long and hard before you try it, and know this: weaning your hair off shampoo is not a matter of weeks. For adults who have washed their hair with shampoo all their lives, it's a matter of months, if not years. It took me a full three months to get my hair to look presentable -- three months during which I frequently had to resort to headscarves, headbands and what have you, often hated my hair and regularly felt down because of it. It was a genuinely depressing experience. After three months, my hair evened out somewhat, but even at its best it never looked nearly as good as freshly shampooed hair. Most of the time it looked quite presentable when put up, but not nearly as good worn down. And my experience seems to be fairly typical. I've seen people claim they had beautiful hair just a few weeks after giving up shampoo, but more often than not, the photos they provided entirely failed to impress me. A few actually quite horrified me. So far, I've only seen two people post pictures of genuinely beautiful no-poo hair. For one of ( ... )

My new man has been around since the beginning of the year. I have no idea where it's all leading, but I'm enjoying it...

Best wishes for 2008 to you, too!

"a new man"??? is this related to the infamous "snogging" incident in australia? or are you just a quick study? if you were a novel, i'd just turn back and reread page 'so and so' and find out, but to sort through a year of lj's, just hoping for a clue is too much. either you'll have to 'fess up, or it will just remain unknown to history.

if i didn't say so elsewhere, btw, the very best of everything to you in 2008.

Thanks, O. For me, my absence from LJ was due more to monitor trouble and exhaustion than to happiness, but I am happy at the moment and am glad to hear you are, too. Here's hoping 2008 will be equally happy or even happier for both of us!
