Prompt:  She had a record

Three suitcases littered her floor, barely enough for the avalanches of clothing and notebooks falling out of her closet. The makeup was packed, the bed stripped of linen, and the pens and colored pencils were wrapped up and tucked into the corner of her purse. The posters she tore off the walls were thrown ( Read more... )

This is really powerful. I loved it, really amazing.

As for the song, it's so cheerful it's slightly creepy lol. But I definitely think it could fit with the scene. Hm. Interesting choice.

thanks for reading! (and liking it. <3)

I love that song. It's the kind of thing to listen to when one loses all hope in love. And it's not my usual style, but I love the voice...he sounds so assuring. I guess the reason that I picked it for this piece is that it in some way does instill hope, and any kind of hope is good...and the title fits. Chances are. A simple statement yet it seems to say so much in so many different contexts.

Plus, if I ever buy a record player, first thing I'm doing is buying a Johnny Mathis record to accompany it. It's a goal.

lol, my boyfriend has a record player and a collection of records, but thus far no Johnny Mathis... I'll have to suggest it to him ;)

Mostly I listen to NIN/Tool/Thrice kind of music, but I'm open to almost all styles, and the oldies remind me of growing up with my grandparents. They loved the Beatles, CCR, Cat Stevens, ABBA... mostly 60's/70's, but some of the older stuff too. It rubbed off on me; reminds me of being little, really little, for the couple years of my childhood that were quiet and settled.

I wish I had that kind of musical background. When I was younger, the only thing I was exposed to was Russian pop and Russian folk songs (and war songs...>.>). I lived in Russia until I was 8 and had no idea any kind of other music existed ( ... )

thank you, darling. Now I have to make you listen to the song...I think it's from the 60's, it's this really cheesy love song but it's oh so powerful in it's cheesyness. lol. Actually, I have no idea what year it's from but it sounds old.
