For the last six months, we've been feeding a stray who appeared under our front bushes. Sweet-tempered, actually liked being petted and would come when called -just a great cat. Unfortunately he's an unaltered male who sprayed so we couldn't make him an indoor cat ( Read more... )

I know. Highly contagious and currently incurable, it can devastate a feral population so quickly. It hurts that I won't be greeted by his little face anymore but at least he won't get any of the others sick.

It was one of the harder decisions we've ever had to make. But hopefully it will keep some of the other strays in our neighborhood from catching it.

We at least spared him a painful and lingering passing. It's still hard leaving the house in the morning knowing that he'll never greet me at the door again.

It's a horrible disease that would have killed him very slowly. We at least spared him that.

But I'll miss his sweet face and his little brrt noise he always made when he saw me.
