Fair Warning - Sunken Temple is going to be a bear to get a like level group for. That, Uldaman, and Mauradon are probably the hardest ones to get done these days. They are very long and tedious instances, and you generally have people of two mindsets on it - They love them, or they hate them (and in my experience most of the folks seem to fall into the latter category).

I've never done any of these, but then, we know about me, anxiety attacks, and grouping. (I am soooo not cut out to raid! Good thing then that I like exploring. ;-) )

netgoth said she would join me as a rogue for Sunken Temple at some point. But before I go about planning any sort of trip to that instance, I need to pick up the rest of the quests for it.

The other ones, yeah. I've seen that on the forums. But I echo what tylorael said - if the group is laid back and not trying to get ZOMG that ONE GOOD DROP then I'm fine with a longer instance.

agreed. I seem to adores Uldaman & ZF and just abhor ST.

I think that it is because I never ran ST on my first 2 characters ...

That above being said, if I'm in the right level for any of these (at 55) and a laid back group wanted to run them, I'd be up for it, schedule permitting.

(Laid back being the key. Scarlet Monastery gave me serious anxiety attacks.)

I ended up dropping all my Scarlet Monastery quests because no one was available/wanted to run them with me. So much for that XP. We'll see what happens with these instances. At this rate, I'll outlevel them before getting a group together.

Scarlet Monastery itself was ok, but I don't always do well in groups unless either we're all at about the same level of experience (so all mains at that level) or I'm familiar with the play-style of the alts. (we can talk about that in some other forum.) Plus, I tend to play with weird courtesy loot rules that I picked up from grouping with friends rather than some of the guild rules for group looting. (Like we saw with the chests on sunday - food doesn't matter to me, but mana does, and food matters to you, but mana doesn't, etc. If you can use it and I can't, I'll just pass entirely, etc. Most of those are in the same *spirit* of the guild rules but require much better communication.)

With the leveling changes, that's not out of the question at all. Dungeons used to almost be required to get from 40-60 in any kind of timely fashion. I did that whole grind on Marciano almost solo after the changeover.

Congrats on the lvling. *sniff* They grow up SO fast,

As you have no doubt been told getting a like lvl group for Sunken Temple will be umm....difficult to say the least. The instance is made of suck and it is a pain to get through...and it requires a couple of visits. I finally ended up finding a group when I was lvl 58 before the release of BC.

Searing Gorge is cool...but Badlands is awesome and filled with chances to get some good veins for mining. If you would like, I can show you a spot for good Thorium mining. :)

Mining is my friend. As the quest I have in Badlands is now green and I still need to do a bunch of mining to complete my last Mithril Order quest, I think I'll head there next. And if you could show me spots for Thorium, I would greatly appreciate it. I can't work with it yet, but I can mine it and smelt it and sit on it until I level up blacksmithing. Until then, I'll be tooling around Tanaris to knock out the Gadgetzan quests.

We'll see what happens with the instances. I would like to be able to do them, but if getting a group together reveals itself to be an impossible dream then I'll drop the quests. The XP would be nice, and I would like to experience the content, but I'll deal with it either way.

BGs vs. Arenas chesch January 10 2008, 04:24:57 UTC
While BGs and Arenas are both PvP, there are inherent differences between the two:

BGs are Warsong Gulch (WSG), Arathie Basin (AB), Edge of the Storm (EoTS), and Alterac Valley (AV). These are all raids that are going on between multiple servers (battlegroups) and you can get bonus honor for each of them on their respective weekends (or holidays).

Arenas are small, quick matches between parties of 2, 3, or 5. You can be competing against your own faction or others and are typically doing these games for a weekly rating to get better gear as the season progresses. You will also have to join in on a team to really compete in this style game and it does cost money

Any more questions? Did I confuse you more than you already were?

So in the BGs, you just go into one of them and start attacking stuff? But in Arenas it's organized into groups?

in BGs, it is that you are in a zone to kill the opposition & perform objectives. Once the objectives are complete, the instance is done.

In Arenas, it is two teams versus each other. Once one team is completely dead, the instance is done.

(WSG - capture the flag three times. AV - kill the opposition's battlemasters. AB - Control the most node points (max of 5 on the board) to get to 2000 points first. EoTS - never played enough of this one to know.)
