For those who are not aware of it, I have been writing a fantasy novel. I started writing on the first of March and I wrote the final chapter last week. I then spent this past week re-writing the beginning and editing the whole thing ( Read more... )

I would be willing to beta read your story. I'm a pretty good, and honest appraiser.. or something. I've read nothing of it so far, so might make a good "never read it before" reader?

WOW :)

If you like, I could give it a read-through. I've read tons of different kinds of books but mostly sci-fi and fantasy. I'm also good w/ grammar and such (not spelling. You're on your own with that ::G::).

Huette, just send it to her.

I wouldn't bother sending the entire story to your friends that are saying they would read it. I would send them the same two chapters to clean up for you and tighten up.

Publishers will only look at a few chapters and they will know whether they like a book or not by those few chapters. Some will only read the first few paragraphs. So, I would pick the best two chapters in the book. They don't have to be the first ones you wrote, but make it action packed in the first place.

Good luck and congrats in completing it. And you BETTER take this opportunity. The worst that can happen is she looks it over and says no. At least you tried. Don't hold back. Chase your dream.

DO IT! Do what Mercy says. Definitely.

I've read a lot of it. I can't say whether it is saleable because it is not my taste in fiction (which is far more hardboiled detective novels - I read what I read of yours because it was your work), but DEFINITELY DO send two chapters to your reading friends, tighten up those two chapters, and send it to your friend the author.
