In looking more closely at the last painting, I think the gentle man to teh right is playing a rommelpot..a pot witha leather sheet over th eopening, tied into place, and a wooden rod through the hole in the center of the sheet. It is played by rubbhe rod in an dout of the sheet. I think anyway..
