Recap of my life

I don't know why I feel like doing this, maybe I'm just tired. Anyhoo, I'm going to do a recap of my life, I suppose it's more for my sake, but feel free to read if you like.

So I moved out here to Edmonton in February, only two days after my birthday actually. It wasn't fun being hungover for an 18 hour drive. =P The whole moving thing actually came about really quickly. Me and Ryan sort of talked about it one night in a Wendy's, and next thing we know it's happening and we're packing up to leave! Craziness.

We stayed at my brother's house at first while we looked for an apartment. We started out downtown, but honestly the apartments out there were pretty fucking creepy. The bottom windows of some buildings were all smashed in, and the neighbourhoods in general didn't look too friendly. So then we took a look around St. Albert, which is the more poshy/expensive area around here, but a really nice place. It's where my brother lives, and we thought we wouldn't be able to afford a place but then we found a really great apartment with an affordable price.

It's a great area, really peaceful, and it's close to the main shopping center and bus loop and everything, which is convenient. When we first got here I got a job at Save-On in the bakery again (bleh!), but it was only till I found something better. And something better did come!

In the West Edmonton Mall there's a great store called Millennium which I'd stalked since we arrived. I was always saying stuff like "Wow, I so wish I could get a job there, it would be great", but I never thought I'd actually be able to. Then one day, just for the heck of it, I decided to hand in a resume. I was asked to come back the next day and BOOM, I landed myself a job.

I was freakin ecstatic, and I still find myself feeling lucky as hell to get such a great job. It's the perfect store for me, and everyone who works there is so awesome. I've made friends with all my coworkers, and thanks to them I've discovered great places such as New City, the gothy sort of club downtown that I've started to frequent every weekend. And I've made even more friends there.

We got ourselves a cat in March also, since being without a pet was too lonely to bear. I miss my Duke so much. We looked into the Edmonton Humane Society and kept tabs on the kittens they were getting. We went in one day and there was this adorable black and white male and I knew that he was perfect for us. We named him Dexter, and I don't think we could have found a better cat. He's crazy, but I love him to pieces.

Well, that's the gist of it. A quick summary of my new life here in Edmonton. The transition was surprisingly easy. In some ways I feel as if I just got here, but in others it's as if I've been here my entire life. The only things I really miss are all my friends back in BC, and my puppies. Hopefully I'll try out the post secondary institutions in the near future, once I figure out what I want to do. It's really awesome living so close to my brother, since I can hang out with him and his kids all the time now. And at least BC isn't too far away, so if we saved up some cash we could easily go back for a visit.

*yawns* And with that I think I might just head to bed...
