No-one will be particularly suprised to hear that I recommenced smoking this weekend. I blame a bad Friday, although I'm more than aware that that's just another feeble excuse. Still - I'll have a think and set a date again. "Don't give up on giving up" is, I understand, the appropriate cliche

Was it actually dry at the Roaches? We turned back at Whaley Bridge due to horizontal rain!

We were there before 10am, and it was totally dry (positively sunny and warm). By lunch time the weather was turning, and we gave up at 2pm having got soaked to the bone on the last climb We retired to the safe distance of the Lazy Trout for a pint and chips :)

Seeing you mention the Roaches has just taken me back to being 14 and hiking to the Roaches from Stafford when I was in the Scouts( yes I confess I was a Boy Sprout). I had of course bought a new pair of boots for said hike - the blisters have just healed.

It is quite a way from the car to the good climbs. I feel that the army boots shall get an outing next time :)

welcome to the joys of climbing outside in the UK....rain, rain and more rain...and occasional sun ;-)

Well, I shall be sleeping in a bivvy bag on Ben Nevis this friday so will probably be very wet....can't wait ;-)
