hmm i havent updated much lately... i have been tres busy avec mes parents. those old whippersnappers really wear me out o_o... i have been sooo tired at the end of the day for the past week.
i am listening to The Decemberists - Her Majesty The Decemberists. route7 burned it for me way back before halloween even and i lost it for a really long time but i found it while i was cleaning. hee. previously all i had heard was The Chimbley Sweep, and i was really taken with that track! i had a discussion a while back with a friend of mine who expressed distaste for them because they apparently ripped off the sound of Neutral Milk Hotel. having just heard the one track, i couldn't say that i agreed with him. but now having heard the entire album i can totally see what he was saying. the vocalist has the same vocal inflections as jeff magnum and the lyrics use all the same sort of turn of the century-early 20th century imagery mixed with surrealism and nonsense as NMH.
so now im kind of bitter about them!
plus, the vocalist used the word "quay" in a song and mispronounced it as "kway" (it is pronounced, as far as i am certain, "key").
having said all that, it is still very pleasant to listen to in the same way that NMH is, just slightly more contrived and less sincere.
