That's fantastic! LOL - I actually noticed the question mark after the chapter 1 AFTER I posted my comment. It made me so happy to know there will be more.
I'm terrible at keeping up with stories, so I have no problem if you want to reply to this just letting me know when you have it posted! : )
John would have been notified before a funeral was set. Clara would have been more likely to tell John the name of the hospital or mortuary where Harry was sent, with the two of them meeting later to make the funeral arrangements together.
I'd always thought just next of kin was notified first, which in this case is Clara since I've kept them married. I'll definitely add something to make that clearer. Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
I'm assuming that Harry either died at the scene or on the way to the hospital. In that case, the police would have gone to Clara and notified her. Clara would have then notified John within a very short time period because he was very close to Harry. In certain circumstances, the police will also notify other close family members at the request of the next of kin; usually, this is used when the person being notified is alone and may react badly or may attempt to drive in their impaired distraught state

I really appreciate all of the info, and I'm also very sorry to hear you've had such an experience. What I've got so far of the next chapter's definitely benefitting from your comments. Thank you again.
I love the dynamic you have built in this chapter. Their reactions correlate well with the characters of the canon. I can't wait to see where this goes!

John's pain was so real and Sherlock's brand of comfort was exactly right! Lovely bit of writing there. Thank you very much, may we have another?
