Valentine's Day

Every year I think I probably rant about Valentine's day. I do seriously have a love hate relationship with this holiday. Annoying societal expectations coupled with less than ideal reality have always lent themselves to the hate but some deep part of me truly loves this holiday for no clear reason and loves it with childlike glee. I miss that part of grade school, too. Cutting and pasting, drawing with markers that smelled like candy, getting to have a party with cupcakes and cookies at any minor excuse ... I'm totally down with that at any time of year. Tell you what - I will make you a card that will show up (in 5 weeks, damn the post!) to cheer you at a random day in the future, entirely out of construction paper and my own brain. How does that sound? Then you can sniff the paper for any residual candy-scented marker fumes. :)

OH that would be awesome. I loved making Valentines as a kid with my smelly markers too and stickers...I <3 stickers. I also loved making the silly holder we always used in class. I think I must have like arts and crafts in general. I think I must also make a cheesy card especially if that means I can use the stick adhesive that I always managed to get all over myself as a kid. Love you lady and Happy Valentine's Day ( ... )

Welll funnily enough when I went to christian school as a young child we didn't really do Vday. But when I moved to public school in third grade we did. There it was always an excuse for a fun day. So I would say it was more secular as a day in general. But I wish you had better kid memories of the day

At least now there is better chocolate! Happy Valentine's Day!
