dig that body up it's alive

Cannot currently imagine a job in my field that would make me happier. This is a problem because this one is not making me happy. Maybe it's just a bad day and I should stop complaining. Maybe my problem is that I expect better.

Still eating too much.

Are jobs supposed to make you happy? My suspicion is that that's a pernicious lie.

After all, they have to pay you to show up. Think about that.

Implicit in the relationship is the idea that you have to be bribed to show up. If you'd do it in your free time anyway, it's not a job, it's a hobby. It's an interest.

Jobs all suck.

But it's a lie that's kept What Color Is Your Parachute? in print for thirty-seven years.

Being jobless sucks too. It's not even just the money thing; unless there's some really big in-your-face thing going on that makes you get out of bed in the morning (like travel, for instance), having a little imposed structure does a lot to make a person enjoy the remaining free hours.

The problem is the stupid 40 hour work week. 20 hours is ideal... 30 hours is bearable. 40 hours is just a bad idea.

It's just a hard trade off. 20 hour a work week... or the financial freedom to buy a few soy lattes?? Hmmm...
