Tinkered with Tumblr for a bit, which seems good for finding stuff, but less good for actually talking to people? I like that you can follow searches/tags, though, because it means you can just, well, do that, instead of hunting down people who might post about that one fandom you share, but are more likely to post about the two dozen you don't

(On the other hand, the 'I don't know this fandom, but X mentioned it and it sounds pretty cool' feels like more of a feature than a bug on DW/LJ?

I have definitely acquired a lot of new beloved fandoms that way!

LJ seems to be trying (in its usual too little, too late way) to get on board truly searchable tags with the site-wide hashtag system, but I don't think I've seen anyone actually using them, and also so much stuff is under f-lock these days, I'm not sure it's even practical at this point.

But, yeah, I've not yet figured out how to talk to people on Tumblr, and so only periodically dip in there when I'm too braindead for anything more interactive than looking at shiny things and pressing "like"...

But then the second time, instead of Liz going 'well, I thought you were an arrogant jerk, but now that I've gotten to know you better, I realize that you're not', Liz goes 'I was actually totally in love with you from the first time I saw you'. Wait, what? I've not either read or watched P&P&Zombies, but SOMEWHERE in there

Tunmblr is excellent for shiny things, yes - I have yet to search for a fandom that hasn't had at least one person posting about it. (Fanart! For that totally obscure book series I love!)

And good to know Jane Austen did the romance better. The movie used some great lines which were definitely from the book, too, but the 'surprise! she loved him from the first time they met' thing just felt like such a waste of a perfectly nice set-up.
