I notice that happens to me too - when I'm around some Koreans, even when they know that I am not fluent in Korean (except a few phrases), they just speak Korean. On the other hand, if I'm with some Koreans at a Chinese restaurant, I'll translate/ tell the Koreans in English what the Chinese staff are saying.

You need to take his mom + her friends to a Vietnamese restaurant! Ha!
