What I really want to do is just leave and not tell anyone where I'm going.  But instead I'm buying boxing gloves.  And eventually a 100-pound punching bag, which I'm hoping someone will help me carry to my car, even though I'll hate admitting that I can't do it by myself.  I'm not sure how those two things fulfill the same need.  I don't think ( Read more... )

Today I came across a red-bound biography of Marie Curie, on one of the last pages of which somebody had faintly written, "Never let oneself be beaten down by persons or events."  I wish I could thank them.  I wonder if anyone else will ever find it.

Mom: What size pants do you wear?
Rachel: I don't know, it depends.

I tried cuy (guinea pig) this weekend.  It was rather disgusting.  Probably because guinea pigs are smelly rodents that eat stuff off the ground and sleep in their own filth.  But they're a traditional indigenous food in the highlands, and they're considered a delicacy, so I guess I can at least say that I've checked that off my list ( Read more... )
