School days are a-coming

Jan 27, 2011 17:19

I have my Orientation Day on the 31st.  Which is four days away.  I’m looking forward to getting my timetable and signing up for stuff- even though I don’t start school until Feb 21st.  However, I’m starting to get really nervous about starting school.  I have some concerns.

Number 1

I will be horribly out of my depth in the science end of things ( Read more... )

It looks like a well awesome belt (from what I can see).

I am a huge fan of your first secret weapon because it bears a striking similarity to one of the secret weapons that accompanied me on my first day at my new job. My dalek mug was going to draw out all of the Doctor Who fans and we would bond over our fantastic taste. Alas, it hasn't worked thus far, but you will hopefully have better luck in a university environment.

Don't worry about the science thing! From what I remember, Year 10 science was pretty basic, plus I'm sure your school will offer programs that will help you catch up if you need to. It will be awesome! You will have so much fun!

You have secret weapons too! Lol, I love it!!!! Makes me feel much less dorky now that I've found someone else that has a secret weapon too! It kind of upsets me though that your secret weapon hasn't worked. But you know what? It just hasn't worked... yet. And until it does you get to sip your hot beverages out of a pretty snazzy mug.

Glad you liked my belt from the smidgeon that was shown. I never really care about clothes but I am obsessing over what to wear for this orientation day! So far, I have a belt. And closed in shoes because that is a 'must' apparently.

Someone finally noticed my dalek mug and declared that they love Doctor Who! You were so right.

Um, seriously? If you turned up wearing a belt which had been complimented by Summer Glau, and wielding a Who diary (also, referring to Stetsons as cool) then we would be instant friends. Then again, I'm one of those loser mature age students so... maybe you wouldn't want to be friends with me. Just as well we already ARE friends -- virtual ones, at least -- and therefore my loser status doesn't eliminate me from the friend realm.

Besides all that: YAY SCHOOL!!! EXCITING!!!

And how much are you looking forward to new Who? Also: I can't believe you met Summer Glau. Also also: UNDER Captain Reynolds? Dirty!

1) Haha, my mum missed (read as: fell asleep) the first ep of the double bill of WC. What is it with mums unable to watch the full two episodes?? I have a friend in the US and the new season of WC just started last week and he said that it is super good. I think I may have to start downloading again just to catch up, I don't think I can wait until next summer to find out what happens!

3) I like River Song but I really only like her because there is so much hate towards her and I don't want to add to the hate! I just want to know who she is and how she relates to the Doctor. I will be mega upset if she's a love interest because that's what the obvious answer is and I think that show is SO much more than about the obvious. I'm trusting that it will be good. Yay for Rory, I just really, really enjoy him.

4) Darn... I was hoping that I would magically morph into a perfect student now that I am a mature age student, but you are proving me wrong! One can dream :)

Darling friend you are going to love going back to school. I totally understand all the nervousness you are feeling because I felt exactly the same way when I went back to school. BUT as a fellow mature age student who has survived the experience I need to tell you that you don't need to fit into the stereotype. I am officially the worst mature age student ever. I have never completed my readings (generally I scan through them whilst writing an essay) and my assignments and presentations are generally assembled the evening/morning before they are due. Plus it is so nice to have something mentally challenging to do instead of the boring daily routine that life normally is ( ... )

Awesome pics! :) (I hope you've found your belt, by the way?) You really don't need to worry about being a mature student, or making friends; someone with your varied interests and engaging style shouldn't have any problem making them. Best of luck with everything! I'm sure you will succeed with flying colors.

Didn't realize you were a Firefly fan; I just saw the pilot about 10 days ago (finally), and really liked it; looking forward to watching more when I get home. Speaking of which, and speaking of convention, I am posting from one right now -- the Xena convention in Los Angeles. Well, the convention is actually over but I'm here for another two days for some work (I always try to combine business with pleasure that way). We (me and a few friends who are also into Robin Hood) also squeezed in an RH-watch of the two-part S1 finale. Speaking of which, is it still okay to nudge you toward the forum now you're busy with school and all? ;) Our 1x12 rewatch thread is up. :)
