mitch, the system fails too often to be reliable. the best thing you can do is just stay who you are and don't change because you think girls would like you any differently. you're a badass in my book, and being bitter jaded is awesome, chicks dig scars, especially emotional ones, and a dude who can drink a fifth to himself and smoke a whole pack of cigs and still kick someone's ass
