REVIEW
This is NOT a review, this is a PETITION...
On 27th September, Dr Mindbender82 posted an entry to the Poetry Community entitled "Christ is on the TV"...for those of you who havent seen it I say have a look, oh and be warned about its content, because what Dr Mindbender doesn't say beforehand is that he has included pornographic images as part of it - and then posted it on the poetry community for all to see.
Now officially, I have had enough...I have had enough of Live Journal and I'm going to make a stand...so here goes. The poetry community is supposed to be somewhere to share poems we have written and to interact together...now if Dr Mindbender wants to include pictures in his poems then I congratulate him for his ingenuity...BUT if he is going to include the kind of smut that is up there now I will not stand for it. So I commented on his entry, suggesting that he show "a bit of common courtesy...and decency" and if he was going to post those kind of images then do it in the privacy of his OWN LIVE JOURNAL rather than the community, where we are forced to see it like it or not!
His response was this..." How about we just sensitize art all together and go live with the puritans?"...very mature for someone objecting to the state of society...so once more I responded, suggesting:
"Maybe the problem with society is that people are too busy indulging themselves and ignoring the rights of others, hey? You wanna express yourself then go ahead and do it. You feel the need to post gratuitous images then go ahead and do it - but for God's sake do it in the privacy of your own journal and not in the public community where everyone, like it or not, has to look at it! I am not interested in your explanation of what you are talking about...I am interested in fulfilling the criteria of Michael's LJ component, and with not having to put up with that kind of filth while I'm doing it."
Dr Mindbender once more decided to respond in a condescending tone to "match mine", once more suggesting I join a puritan community, and saying that "MG dosn't seem to have a problem with the post and I don't see any one else complaining, but now that there is a bandwagon..."
SO TO EVERYONE READING I SAY THIS: read Dr Mindbender's entry, have a look at what he has posted and then say something about it. I have no problem with him posting this on HIS SITE, but NOT in the community where we are all subjected to seeing images we would otherwise condemn.
At NO POINT did I attack his poetic license or freedom of expression, and yet he chose to insult me and my thinking that I have the right TO NOT BE SUBJECTED TO SUCH IMAGERY. So now I have this bandwagon, and I invite you to jump on board....
TO MG, I SAY THIS...
He is using you as a defence to post these images, and I am opposing them. This Live Journal is about sharing, not blatantly offending, and I am well within my rights to object and suggest that he keep that sort of smut to his own pages...but he seems to think you will side with him and allow it...SO PICK A SIDE...I have been reasonable to this point, but I will not be anymore, I will not stand for this to be allowed and I will not be insulted when I object to it - so MG, either side with him or me, because I have asked, and will not rest now until his poem is DELETED from the community so myself and others like me don't have to see it.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS PICK A SIDE, EITHER STAND WITH ME OR AGAINST ME - IF YOU'RE OF THE OPINION SMUT SHOULD BE BROADCAST ON LIVE JOURNAL THEN SAY SO, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR IT, JOIN THE CLUB!
