Possibly Oothoon and Theotormon are not really characters but rather symbols of everything which prevents us from finding salvation. Im in full agreement with you about the inhibitions which blind us to the truth, and I think Blake was just trying to show the truth in its horrible glory that shocks us into realising that what he writes is really inside all of us and shouldn't be!!
