Wow we're getting close to something big happening aren't we? I could feel Clark's jealousy at seeing this beautiful, powerful woman - Diana - on Bruce's bed like she belonged there more than he. These two are idiots. They're in love but they can't just embrace that. The weight of Bruce's guilt and secrets and shame and things unsaid swing between them like the pendulum on a clock.

When Bruce asked Clark to walk with him and he said "Anywhere" I felt chills down my spine. They're connection is so potent. And then having Clark find the chess pieces on the mantle... What secrets lie beneath this burnt shell.

OH GOOD. I didn't want to dwell on it TOO much, but mmm, a bit of jealousy makes me really happy to write, I confess it.

When Bruce asked Clark to walk with him and he said "Anywhere" I felt chills down my spine.

I felt it too, writing it! Like, Clark doesn't know consciously all the strange and terrifying places that could lead him, but he's still up for it, you know he is...

The woman’s face lit up with joy. ”Clark,” she breathed, and launched herself across the wide bed to throw her arms around him.

Clark blinked down at her--she had lifted him up in the air with her hug as if he were a child. She put him down again and cleared her throat.

Eeee, I love Diana just... picking Clark up, hee! :D

He looked from her face to Bruce’s and blurted out with abrupt, relieved certainty: “You’re not lovers.”

Clark!

Grabbing her purse, she opened it and pulled out--

Sunlight.

No, Clark realized, blinking, it was a cord of some sort, braided of golden rope that seemed to shine like the sun.

*flails*

there was a fierceness in her face that made Clark want to take a step away from her. But that would mean taking a step away from Bruce as well, standing behind her with anguish in his eyes, and Clark wouldn’t do that.

Clark!!!

tying me up with a piece of pretty sparkly rope isn’t going to change that.

*gurgles with delight*

“Well, it is both pretty and sparkly,” she said.

*hearts Diana*

“Diana, let me give ( ... )

I love that Diana is tall and STRONG, and that she kind of forgot that Clark wouldn't remember it for a moment! It was so fun to write her, she's such a strong presence, and of course any excuse to force a confession of true feelings from Clark (and in a different way from Bruce) is very fun! :D

“This is what I am,” Bruce said. “Look at that lake house, Clark. There’s nothing in it. It’s all a show and a sham, a diorama of an empty life. I hurt you, before. I love you, too. But maybe that’s not enough.” His hair was dripping, his eyes far away.

“That lake house isn’t all you are,” Clark retorted. “Just like that mausoleum behind us isn’t all you are. There’s something beneath it, I know. There’s something real beneath it.” Surprise touched with amusement flickered across Bruce’s face as Clark went on: “And it’s possible love isn’t enough. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.”

Oh, and this was just a lovely, lovely moment, after, the two of them alone in the rain...

The silence felt...different, this time. Not brooding, but waiting. Anticipating. A breathless quiet ( ... )

I am SO loving writing some quiet moments in the rain! It's been really nice to give them some space together...

I've just gotten him down the steps and into the dark! Mmmm, I know where things are going now and I'm so happy about that...

Your comments always make my day!

AWWWW!

Bruce had been smiling fondly at her, but at her last words the smile disappeared. “Diana,” he said warningly, and the air between them seemed suddenly to crackle again, full of tension.
O-ow

Clark charged on without taking a breath: “He’s passionate and stubborn and full of secrets and he has extremely sketchy opinions about strawberry shortcake and I love him, Diana, and that is the truth.”
Oh Clark. <333

As it turned out, Clark remembered how to make hot chocolate better than Bruce did.
:LOL

Beside the fireplace was a grandfather clock, its hands melted and bent, pointing to no time and every time. Clark reached out and rested his hand on its case.
And at his touch the clock swung open, revealing stairs leading down into darkness.WOW ( ... )

Diana was so fun--and surprisingly easy!--to write, considering I haven't seen much of her! I can't wait for her movie, I bet that will inspire some more fic too...

And ooooh, into the depths now! Not much more to go!

Very nice introduction to the Lasso. :)

Sparkly and pretty, huh? Why did I think of Dick Grayson when I read that? ;)

I love Diana's no-nonsense approach. She'll straighten these boys out! :)

The Lasso in the movies looks JUST RIGHT, I really hope it has the truth-telling qualities of canon! (someone needs to write a story where Dick is somehow linked to the Lasso because they're both pretty, sparkly, and true-hearted!)
