Oh, what a treat it was to see this today! :D

Clark was over Canada by the time the first syllable of Alfred’s name was uttered, was in civilian clothes and in the Manor before the last consonant died away, bursting into the room where--thank God--he could still hear two heartbeats. “What is it?” he blurted out.

Awwww, Clark!

“But I’ve suffered the common cold before and I assure you, I will somehow manage to pull through.”

Alfred!

“Right.” Bruce jumped to his feet. “Orange juice,” he blurted, and bolted from the room.

BRUCE.

“As a result, I have worked through whatever minor illnesses and ailments have come my way rather than resting. Not the best system, perhaps, but I knew he would feel alone and afraid, and I hated to cause him distress. It was never anything beyond my endurance. But this time is different

This universe is so pleasant to write in! I've had a couple of little ideas for it, and now that other things are clearing up it's more possible, I think...

ALFRED. *draws dozens of hearts around him*

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. You know he's not even that sick, he's just decided now is a good time to get Bruce used to the idea, I think... :)

I bet that is the best chopped celery in Gotham, too. :)

So sweet! A little sad because of Bruce's panic, but Alfred's right, now he has Clark. :)

Luckily Clark is there to keep the panic to a minimum. :) I think Alfred actually chose an especially light illness just to start getting Bruce used to it!

Oh no!

“--You misunderstand me,” Alfred said. “The difference is that this is the first time I’ve been ill since you entered Bruce’s life. I know you will be here for him. He will not feel alone with you here to reassure him. I trust you, and so I can rest easy.”
AWWWW! This is so sweet.

“Stop hovering and let an old man get some sleep,” Alfred said huffily.

LOVED IT! That was so beautifully written! Poor Bruce was so concerned about Alfred - I don't blame him though. And the Clark-Alfred talk was great - so sweet and touching. Loved Clark's idea of making the soup - just perfect!

I'm glad I could brighten your day just a bit with a smidge of hurt/comfort, heavy on the comfort (and chicken soup!) Bruce being worried all out of proportion (but understandably!) is a lot of fun to write...
