I don't know why they did this, as neither company are in particular financial straits. I only hope that they are there to give each other supports in their relevant fields, not to make horrible Disney X Marvel Crossover RPG-Action Fight Games with comic book sides (or vice versa).
Well, Marvel did give us Howard the Duck... But yeah, I'm not expecting the nightmare scenarios painted on the far-flung corners of the webbernets - I was just surprised by the move :)
I wouldn't worry about anything changing at the "business end" of things. Marvel is a vast and much beloved brand, to alter it would be nonsensical.
in any case, remember there's a hell of a lot more to Disney than animated kids films and Hannah Montana. Miramax is part of Disney. I would assume life at Marvel will be very much business as usual, just with Disney getting to make the money from film adaptations, and getting to have a marvel area at their parks.
Remember Warner Brothers has owned DC for decades and you don't see superman vs bugs bunny.
Speaking of Marvel parks, there's a large section devoted to Marvel at Universal Studios in Florida, which is a direct competitor to Walt Disneyworld Florida - wonder what'll happen to it.
The moment I read the article I was suddenly overcome by an image of Kingdom Hearts, with Sora sprouting key blade claws from his hands and swinging off the disney castle on a line of webbing.
I'm still not sure if I was overcome with horror or geeky joy.
